In December 2016, facebook published “Government Requests for 2016” made to facebook. These request include, sort of accessing user account’s data. Report also revealed the number of request increased in 2016 as compared to 2015 in second half .
Pakistan requests for data report published, form Jan – 2016 to June – 2016 and for all other countries data. Facebook stated in the report ;
“We respond to valid requests relating to criminal cases. Each and every request we receive is checked for legal sufficiency and we reject or require greater specificity on requests that are overly broad or vague.”

While processing all request from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) , only 25 facebook pages content are blocked. As demonstrated in above table, total of 712 Legal request were made in which 1,015 account -information are provide. Some emergency request were also made by PTA for account removal/bann. The number of request as compared to 2015 increased in 2016, because facebook user in Pakistan grows every year.
Pakistan Content Restrictions
Based on legal requests from the Pakistan Telecom Authority, we restricted access to content for allegedly violating local laws prohibiting blasphemy, desecration of the national flag, and condemnation of the country’s independence.
Facebook regularly produces Government Requests Report in order to share the information about strict policies and rules with their user in countries. This report provides the number of items restricted due to violations of local law in countries where Facebook provide its services.
